FAQ

Who is Origami?

Origami provides a specialist wellbeing and psychology service, developed through a specific trauma informed lens. Our work focuses on highly motivated and pressured executives, who are the wealth generators within multinational organisations.

We undertake constant, ongoing, research to ensure that our therapeutic interventions and flexible approach to the individuals and organisations we support are up-to-date, tailored and evidentially informed. We work to continuously learn about the people and businesses we are supporting, adapting and adopting tailored, treatment strategies, reducing the need for onward referrals.

What are psychotherapy services?

Generally, psychotherapy services are a mix of dialogue and exploration aimed at addressing mental health conditions and emotional challenges. Delivered by trained therapists who support individuals to understand and work through stress, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and other related issues.

At Origami, we provide more than that. Our expert clinicians do more than alleviate symptoms. They help you to identify and understand the root causes, such as the impact of trauma, medical illness and loss; or of specific mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety. This helps you to understand and deal with triggers, and have improved functionality and enhanced emotional well-being and healing.

Are Origami clinicians affiliated with specific membership/accreditation bodies?

Yes, our professional memberships include: British Psychological Society, British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, Royal Society of Medicine, Royal Society of Psychiatrists, British Association of Social Work, British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, Institute of Leadership and Management; Association of Coaching.

What is the difference between a general employee wellbeing service and a specialist psychology service?

In general, employee wellbeing services provide short-term counselling focusing on practical solutions such as support and advice to employees and their families on both personal and work-related challenges. Aimed at improving wellbeing, productivity and reducing absenteeism, such services tend to offer counselling, financial guidance, and legal advice.

Our unique and specialist psychotherapy service will usually offer longer term, in-depth sessions, providing you with the time and space to understand the root causes of any emotional and behavioural issues. Our psychotherapists will be clinical specialists, each with a unique approach and style.

Origami’s specialist psychology service also differs in the depth and breadth of experience of our clinical psychotherapists (our clinicians have extensive experience in specialist NHS teams or equivalent), the number and flexibility of our sessions, our expertise in treating a broad range of complex mental health conditions, our evidence-based therapeutic interventions reduce the need for onward referrals, and our focus on confidentiality.

What kind of agreements will be made?

Each corporate client has a different and specific requirement, so at Origami we tailor each contractual agreement with the commissioning team based on needs.

How can we be sure our elite performers will receive effective therapy?

At Origami, we understand that ‘top-down’ models, conventional mental health approaches, can fall short and may not work for those with limited time or unresolved trauma. In some cases, these methods can worsen the issue or provide only temporary relief.

The Origami team is expert in trauma informed solutions. Their lived experience, and decades working within NHS specialist services, informs their work. As well as experts in psychology, they are trained coaches and united in a shared passion, to provide a truly holistic trauma informed mental wellbeing service.

How do you deliver feedback?

Our feedback to the management or commissioning team is delivered in an anonymised format, either as surveys or reports. Feedback to each patient is delivered during and after every session either verbally or in writing, or both.

Will you share details about the wellbeing of our elite performers?

Our service is highly confidential, so we do not share our patient information unless authorised by the individual patient, in specific circumstances, in writing, to do so.

How will we recognise ROI?

We are justly proud of the success of our interventions, as testified by our annual review process, which includes an anonymised report or survey, and is undertaken with the commissioning team. To-date, our corporate clients have chosen not only to continue with our services but also to extend them.

How soon will we recognise success?

The corporate understanding of Success would be defined at contract stage. There is no single point when success will be recognisable, it will be unique to each organisation and each individual client and will depend on the level of need.

Is remote therapy an effective substitute for face to face?

Our own experience and independent studies show that remote therapy can be as effective as face-to-face therapy for many mental health concerns, with outcomes that are comparable to in-person sessions. Although effectiveness can vary depending on the needs of the individual.

Can you provide in-person services?

Yes, we can also provide in-person services, and these would be part of the discussion with the commissioning team.

How will we communicate?

Our practice manager is always the first point of contact, either by phone or email. Communication between client and psychotherapist is managed through our practice manager.

How will the sessions work?

Our aim is to help you build a strong trusting relationship that enables you to feel comfortable and confident to move forward with the process. To do this, there is an initial consultation with your clinical psychotherapist to allow us to understand your specific needs, agree goals and plan your therapeutic outcomes.

Using specialised trauma training and interventions, we help you to identify and address the neurophysiological symptoms of distress, guiding you back to a state of wellbeing and helping you to recognise and cope with the triggers of stress. We provide in depth psychotherapy as well as expert executive coaching, so we respond specifically to your needs and work fluidly through coaching and psychology.

How long are the sessions?

Each session lasts 50minutes or one psychotherapeutic hour unless we plan longer sessions, such as when we are meeting family members or have a specific set of exercises planned that take longer.

How many sessions will our elite performers need?

The Origami approach is to provide a flexible, adaptable, service where the number of sessions will be dictated by each individual client and their specific need.

Does Origami have a clear process?

Yes, we have a very clear process of therapeutic sessions, interventions and oversight.

What is the Origami process?

Trauma triggers can evoke intense, overwhelming physiological and emotional responses. To address these effectively, we prioritise calming the body’s stress responses—rooted in the amygdala—before focusing on changes to thoughts or behaviours.

Our specialised trauma training and interventions work from the “bottom-up,” starting with the body and emotional regulation and, by identifying and addressing the neurophysiological symptoms of mental trauma, we guide individuals back to a state of well-being, providing the expert care and flexibility they need to heal and thrive.
