Enrique Arellano Farias BSc (Hons) Psychology, PGD Mental Health Science, UK
Enrique, a relational therapist, is fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Italian. His over 30 years of practice and training in different modalities inform his work with adults who present symptoms of early childhood difficult experiences which impact and block the fulfilment and harmony of their present life.
He uses a body-centred approach, one that integrates the complexity of the psyche and the human. As our bodies express themselves through movement, breath and creative expression, Enrique sees healing as a path that involves not only the body but the emotions, heart and soul.
Enrique uses various techniques including AEDP, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, and Body Psychotherapy. As a therapist, Enrique has an experiential focus which involves engaging with a client’s mindful awareness and sensory faculties to allow them to grow and change through healing experiences.
This means engaging the felt sense of the body, the ebb and flow of emotions, and the experiential sense of being together in the therapeutic relationship. He believes that emotions are crucial to human well-being and development and provide the energy for unfolding our inner and outer relationships with the world.
Enrique’s Polyvagal Informed Practice helps individuals become aware of their nervous system reactions to safety and threats in their daily lives. Emotional regulation is explored as physical movement, and the expression of emotions are processed with the awareness of the Autonomic Nervous System. His clients often experience restorative changes that improve their physical, mental, or emotional conditions.
This holistic, gentle and subtle guidance allows clients to explore the needs of their body, paying particular attention to their Autonomic Nervous System, enabling them to understand their Personal Autonomic Profile and its effect on daily life. He takes care to align his therapeutic practice with any allopathic or alternative treatments clients may be receiving.
The therapy can help to release and explore tensions in the body that are translated into personal narratives or stories. This is particularly valuable to those whose personal history and life experiences impact on their personal fulfilment, they want to regain their self-confidence and trust in others, allowing them to live life to the fullest.
Enrique has trained with The Open University, The AEDP Institute, BBSH, Istituto della Core Energetica, The IFS Institute, Center for Intentional Living, Mindsight Institute, Psychomotor Institute, and Deep Brain Reorienting, gaining extensive knowledge and experience in the fields of body psychotherapy, trauma and dissociation, and psychology.
Enrique is a member of several eminent organisations, including European Society for Trauma and Dissociation, The British Psychological Society, the European Association for Body Psychotherapy and The Col.legi Oficial de la Psicología de Catalunya.
